Hotel Type

Boutique Hotel

It's one of Barcelona's better-known boutique hotel that's managed to stay in business for almost a decade with a still relevant design that continues to attract young fashionistas and budget conscious travelers. The hotel is situated inside a 19th-century gothic apartment block renovated by architect Jordi Tio with fun, utilitarian interiors from Ferran Amat of Vinçon. Its location near the Raval area is convenient for nightlife, galleries like the MACBA and a short walk from Plaza Cataluna.

A sliding glass panel leads to the lobby marked by an open display of fancy sandwiches, soup, intricate salads and pastries that are complimentary to guests once you get past the reception that feels a bit like a fancy grocery store checkout. The hotel is also home to presents Dos Palillos Barcelona, a fancier food option with late night dining option all by Albert Raurich, former chef de cuisine at the world famous El Bulli, who mixes whimsical Asian dishes served tapas style.

The Room

A quirky boutique hotel is accessed via a tight elevator or more ideal staircase that ascends to the property’s twenty rooms and five suites. Quintessential minimalism with splashes of bold colors describes guest room that feature sleeping and living area oddly divided by the main hallway of the hotel where guests pass to and from their own accommodations sometimes wearing nothing but their underwear or even less.
